Valerian Root (Valeriana Officinalis) is used ritually for purification, protection, love and to promote sleep. Carry in sachets to attract love or hang the sachets around the home to protect against lightening and ease tension in areas of conflict.  Place Valerian sachets on the pillow to promote peaceful sleep. The Greeks hung a sprig of Valerian under the window to charm away evil. Powdered Valerian root is sometimes used as "graveyard dust".
